Subject: An Update on the Proposed Regent Square Environmental Charter School

Greetings:

We are writing to provide you with an update on the progress being made to create an environmental charter school in Regent Square. First, the most exciting news is the building is in the process of being sold to Schoolhouse Finance, the fiscal arm of Imagine Schools, Inc. The Agreement of Sale has been signed and the closing is scheduled to occur not later than the first week in June.

Also, a group has formed to obtain signatures from parents and residents in the city and in the municipalities that comprise Regent Square. Teams have been organized and will soon begin work to obtain up to 1,000 signatures from City of Pittsburgh residents plus additional signatures from non-residents .

It is going to take a very strong effort to collect the 1,000 signatures from City of Pittsburgh residents plus signatures outside of Pittsburgh. We would greatly appreciate it if you could help us. We estimate that it would only take 5 hours of your time as we are asking each volunteer to secure 50 signatures. If you could possibly help out, please let Mark Friedman know of your interest and he will assign you to a team. Mark is a co-captain for the initiative along with his brother, Alan Friedman.

The Friedman Brothers, Inc. could really use more people, so please consider e-mailing Mark at msfriedman@stophiv.pitt.edu.

Thanks for your continuing interest in and support for the proposed environmental charter school.

Sincerely,

Phil Parr
Mark Friedman
