City Council will be voting on the proposed rezoning of three residential lots to LNC.

Attend if possible, 5th floor, City-County building on Grant Street in Downtown Pittsburgh.

Large numbers of community members from Park Place, and a host of other local community organizations and non-profits have worked hard over the last year to protect the neighborhood. In fact, today we had the support of ACORN (http://acorn.org/contactus/state.php?st=PA) who showed up in force to support us before council.
Thanks to the tremendous participation of *you*, in the community throughout this year long process, we have gained enough support from City Council and the Mayor’s office to succeed in bringing Walgreens back to the table with some serious concessions. (more…)

Reviwing Project at Community MeetingTuesday evening, September 26, a public community meeting was held at the Church of the Nazarene to gather initial public input for the Peebles Square affordable housing redevelopment project that is being funded through various grants and programs. The community had the opportunity to meet with Melana Mears of Action Housing, a non-profit organization who is developing the Peebles Square area in a joint effort with Hosanna House, as well as with the architect firm hired for the project- Rothschild Doyno Architects. Action Housing and Hosanna House, along with the Pittsburgh Community Design Center, will be holding a community meeting to discuss the neighborhood development project for Peebles Square.   A walking tour is planned of the site, and a the community will have a chance to meet the architects for the project, as well as share their concerns and input on the project.

The meeting will be held at the Church of the Nazarene at the corner of Peebles and Waverly.

Last night, Monday September 25th, a community meeting was hosted by Twanda Carlisle, councilwoman for our district. The meeting was about the rezoning controversy that many in the community have been following for the last year.

Today’s scheduled vote regarding the rezoning for the residential lots on East End and South Braddock for Walgreens was delayed at the request of Twanda Carlisle for two weeks.

The hearing should be on TV tonight, more details to follow.

It will be imperative that as many people as possible call each council member over the next two weeks.
