There will be a final presentation of the plans for the Peebles Square development project by Action Housing to the community on Thursday May 29th, at 6:30PM at the Church of the Nazarene location on the corner of Peebles and Waverly.(Across from Drawn In Cafe) The new architect for the project will be on hand to answer questions and present home designs and lot layouts.

All are encouraged to attend, as this will be the plan Action Housing is presenting before the zoning board.

The annual meeting for the Greater Park Place Neighborhood Association will be held Thursday June 5th at the Church of the Nazarene on the corner of Peebles and Waverly. All are encouraged to attend, and those who are paid members for the July07/June08 fiscal year may vote in the board election.

There will four (4) open seats. We are looking for community members to join the board and take on leadership roles in the community.

Minimum requirements are for members to commit to attending the monthly meeting on the first Thursday evening of each month, and to average at least 24 hours of volunteer time over the course of the year in community projects. This can be in any number of activities of your choice, including helping out with events, attending other organizational meetings to represent our neighborhood, or perusing special interest topics such as schools, safety, neighborhood development, or the tree program.

The Park Place Picnic is coming up Sunday June 1. There will be live music, petting zoo, and many other activities this year. Hot dogs will be provided, and people are encouraged (but not required) to bring a dish to share as well.

Picnic Starts at 1:00pm on Abbott Street and lasts until 4:00pm.

Here’s another chance to see the new Environmental Charter School at Frick Park. Learn about and visit the school during one of the following open houses. Volunteer members of the Parent/Community Task Force invite you to take a tour, ask questions, and fill out an interest form for your child’s enrollment. Children welcome.

The Park Place spring clean up event will be held this Saturday, May 3rd, 2008. Come help clean up our neighborhood, and take part in the Pittsburgh Redd-Up campaign. Registration will be held in front of the Waverly Church on the corner of Forbes and South Braddock Avenue from 9:00am-12:00pm.

Bags and supplies will be provided to volunteers.
