National Night Out coming August 2

Screen Shot 2016-07-29 at 6.23.22 AMJoin Park Place neighbors in a variety of backyard cookouts, ice cream socials and porch parties on Tuesday August 2 to celebrate National Night Out. Anyone can host an event! Let us know if you are doing something and we’ll add it to this list. Or you can cruise the neighborhood and attend one or more of these gatherings to meet new neighbors and reconnect with old friends.¬†National Night Out was started to promote community and strengthen relationships between neighbors¬†and public safety departments. Police, fire, EMS and representatives from city council and the mayor’s office will be circulating around the city throughout the night. In Park Place, we consider this a great opportunity to update your contact list for the people who are your direct neighbors. A good rule of thumb is to look out your windows, or front or back door. Do you know the names of the people who live in the homes you can see? If not, you can use this as a reason to knock on their door, introduce yourself and invite them to come down the street for some ice cream! We also have a very active Facebook group, which you can join here. This is another good way to stay on top of the hyper-local news about power outages, water or sewage issues, items for sale or free, or noises that go bump in the night.
