Meeting Notes from Charter School Community Meeting

The Environmental Charter School at Frick Park met with the Park Place community to discuss their plans for expanding the charter school on Thursday June 3rd, 2010. They introduced the mission and program of the school, and provided some high-level information regarding their plans for the historic Park Place School building that they would like to convert back to a  K-3 school from it’s current high-end apartments.   The following two documents contain both the presentation and notes from the question and answer period of the meeting. They expressed the intention to hold future meetings as well.

Charter School Community Meeting on June 3

The Environmental Charter School at Frick Park has asked to meet with the Park Place community to discuss their plans for expanding the charter school. They are looking to use the old Park Place school on South Braddock, currently high-end residential rental, and convert it back to a school for kindergarten through 3rd grade.

To that end, Jon McCann, the principal,  has reserved the social hall at the Waverly Church on the corner of Forbes and South Braddock avenue for Thursday June 3rd, at 6:30PM.  Community members are encouraged to attend to learn about the proposal and provide input.

As this would seemingly require a zoning change, this would be an early opportunity to interact with the charter school representatives to ask questions, express concerns, etc. before it gets to the planning commission and zoning board.
