Missing Kitty

Have you seen me?

Neighbors on Abbott St. are missing their kitty. Though she’s only been gone since last night, this is unusual for her.  She’s a gray and white domestic short hair, 4 years old, & probably a little spooked if she has wandered off of Abbott St. If anyone sees her please call Marty at 412-818-8096 or Liz at 412-860-0467.

UPDATE — Kitty came home!

Port Authority Service Cuts and Fare Hikes

Today, the Port Authority announced their proposal for addressing their funding shortage through significant layoffs, service cuts and fare increases.

Affecting our immediate neighborhood is the proposal to combine the 63B and 68G routes into one (approximately) combined route, P71 Swisshelm Park-Rankin Flyer, while at the same time reducing the number of scheduled runs during the week and significantly reducing the scheduled runs on week-ends.

Additionally, this new route is designated a “premium” route and subject to a higher fare of $4 one way and $160 for a monthly pass.

For those that walk to the bus way, the EBA and EBO would have reduced service, and the EBS would be eliminated.

There will be a period of public comment followed by an all day public hearing for the proposal on August 19, 2010.  Details may be found on the Port Authority website: http://www.portauthority.org/PAAC/CompanyInfo/Financials/FundingCrisis/tabid/538/Default.aspx

Food, Inc., a feature-length documentary by director Robert Kenner, lifts the veil on our nation’s food industry, exposing a system controlled by international corporations that prioritize profit over the health and safety of consumers.

The Ingredients for Change Campaign includes public screening events of the film Food, Inc. in thirty lower income communities around the country in an effort to raise public awareness of the U.S. food system, and to address issues of food access, childhood obesity, and other diet-related health problems.
