Peebles Square Project

Peebles Square Project Location

Concept sketch of the
Peebles Square development
The non-profit organization Action Housing in a joint effort with Hosanna House is redeveloping one of the severely distressed blocks in a corner of our community near Penn and Trenton Avenues. Called Peebles Square, the development project includes the renovation of some historic mission-style row homes, and the building of several new single-family detached homes where abandoned lots and businesses now sit.
The while the homes will have significant costs to build, a large portions of those costs will be paid for by grant money, allowing them to be sold for significantly less. The homes will be targeted for moderate income buyers who earn no more than 110% of the median income. Buyers must occupy the homes, or they must pay back the grant funded portion of the contruction as well. This will be an excellent opportunity for first-time buyers. It will also help promote owner occupancy, to help maintain a healthy balance between rental and owner occupied properties in the area.
The project has included several community meetings to gather input from the local residents. You can see the outcome of some of those meetings in the sketchbook created by Rothschild Doyno Architects, the firm hired for the project.![]()
